Although some tinnitus causes may not involve only the ears there are other areas of concern when a person has a tinnitus and they would be the head and neck. Head and neck injuries are often regular causes of tinnitus. Most of those who are involved in a vehicular accident complain of a sudden ringing in the ears.

Thorough examination must be done to check on the possible injuries that the vehicular accident might have done to the head and neck of a person. Aside from head and neck injuries, other tinnitus problems may involve the ears, the inner ears in particular. It is in the inner ears where we can discover the organs responsible for our sense of hearing. When one of them is injured or damaged, it is expected to cause hearing problems. It can either be for good or temporary, depending on the damage done.

Some causes of temporary hearing loss are impacted earwax and sudden exposure to loud noise. For permanent hearing loss, some common causes are punctured eardrums, ototoxic drugs, Meniere’s disease, and frequent or sudden exposure to loud noise. There are those who may be exposed to a single loud noise and may already acquire permanent hearing loss. This depends on the loudness of the noise.

Sudden explosions like that of a bomb explosion can cause immediate damage to the hair cells in the cochlea and this can lead to permanent hearing loss and tinnitus. This may happen if the noise is terribly loud and can really damage the hair cells as it vibrates abnormally. There are also times when the hair cells are still able to recuperate if the intensity of the noise is not very loud. This is what happens when there is temporary hearing loss. In this case, the tinnitus also disappears the moment the hair cells are able to recuperate and the hearing of the person is restored back to normal.

In the case of Meniere’s disease, frequent attacks of vertigo would complicate the hearing loss and which can eventually [/spin]lead to|cause[/spin] tinnitus. Some cases of tinnitus causes the person to be depressed and they will start to lose interest in doing their daily activities. Some even go to the point of creating misunderstandings with the people around them with their mood swings. These are some of the few things that must be understood by those who live with somebody who has tinnitus. They must be very patient and understand that a person having tinnitus is going through tough times.

Is Herbal Medicine Reliable?

It wasn’t until the discovery of penicillin that the general public began to drop traditional plant medicine in favor of modern pharmaceuticals, feeling plant medicine worked, but more slowly. Besides, taking a pill was more convenient than preparing teas with sometimes unpleasant tastes or poultices of ointments from plants. There was also a psychological element in play, where pills were almost like magic and much better suited to modern life.

There was a gradual decline in interest in the old ways and by the 1950’s, you were considered somewhat of a “wacko” if you were still using these plants as herbal medicine. Poor Grandma’s home herbal medicine remedies fell into disrepute, with a note of disdain to boot.

As pharmaceutical companies began producing more and more pills, herbal medicine was all but forgotten. The irony of this is that the pharmaceutical companies were relying chiefly on plants as the active ingredients in their magic pills. However, in order to make a profit, the resulting pill product had to be patentable, and a plant cannot be patented, by law. So the pharmaceutical companies sought to extract only the active constituents thought responsible for the healing effect, combining them with other single extractions, thus making them patentable and profitable.
