Losing Weight by Thinking Green. Helpful Information to Take Into Consideration

July 09, 2009 By: Mr. Healthy Category: Green Tea No Comments →

Now more than ever, people are trying to lose weight by thinking green. Green tea is one of the newest products on the market in the present day. Its medicinal qualities have been known for years. But can green tea in fact enable you to shed those unwanted pounds?

Study conducted for the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition states that a green tea diet can speed up your metabolism and oxidize fat without increasing your heart beat. This means that you can achieve a fast metabolism with green tea without suffering heart problem. In other words, green tea enables you to boost your expenditure of energy without causing adverse health effects.

If you find the taste of green tea hard to swallow, you can take green tea extract in a pill. The 500-milligram capsules should be consumed two or three times on a daily basis in order for you to receive maximum help.

Certainly, you might be wondering at this point how much green tea is enough. Some medical experts advise as many as ten cups a day. Other health specialists say that two to three cups are enough. Yet other medical experts recommend splitting the difference, calling for four to five cups of green tea each day.

Green tea reduces your “bad” cholesterol count, while enhancing your “good” cholesterol count. So, those who drink green tea can substantially boost their consumption of high cholesterol food, yet maintain a relatively low bad cholesterol count. Green tea can also lessen your blood sugar, protecting you against diabetes or at least reducing symptoms of diabetes.

Many studies have been done in order to find out the benefits of green tea. For instance, researcher William Rumpler conducted a analysis in order to find out the effects of green tea consumption on men. The results indicated that the energy expenditure for tea-drinkers was three percent higher after they ingested the tea. However, Rumpler and his colleagues believe additional research needs to be conducted in order to determine the full effect of green tea upon the human body.

Certainly, in addition to weight loss, there are other advantages to the GreenTea diet. It is believed to be successful in preventing Alzheimer’s illness, combating flu and colds, and boosting your immune system. As a result, many people drink the beverage strictly for its medicinal value.

On a segment of the “Oprah Winfrey” talk show, Dr. Nicholas Perricone said that if you replaced coffee with green tea, you could lose as many as ten pounds in six weeks. Perricone stated, “Coffee has natural acids that raise your blood sugar, raise insulin. Insulin puts a lock on body fat. When you substitute it with green tea, you get your caffeine, you’re all set, but you will drop your insulin levels and body fat will fall very rapidly. So 10 pounds in six weeks, I will promise it.”

But, note that the physician is not prescribing green tea per se, but rather calling it preferable to coffee. However, it appears clear that green tea is a healthier beverage than coffee. A study published by the American Journal of Clinical Study reports that green tea promotes fat oxidation, and that this process appears to be the result of more than just the caffeine that is a constituent of the tea. In other words, there appear to be qualities inherent in green tea that foster fat oxidation.

It is interesting to note that some people wonder which is preferable: loose-leaf green tea that you purchase online or the green tea that you can buy at the supermarket. Commonly speaking, supermarket green tea is considered lower in class than green tea purchased over the Internet. It has been said that green tea offered on the Web also enables you to get the most out of your money.

It appears that green tea is more than just a passing trend. It has emerged as a legitimate health aid—a product which can help you lose weight over the long run. While there is no such thing as a magic fix for weight loss, you should think about adding green tea to your diet, not only for its weight loss worth, but for its medical properties as well.

Green Tea And Weight Loss. Useful Info to Be Aware of

June 10, 2009 By: Mr. Healthy Category: Green Tea No Comments →

There’s recently been a LOT in the weight loss news concerning green tea.

Green tea’s weight loss effects have been causing more and more people to start sipping the ancient Japanese brew.

But just how does green tea help you lose weight? And does it really work or is it all just hype? This article gives you the real facts about drinking green tea to lose weight.

Advantages of Drinking Green Tea for Weight Loss:

1) Green tea revs up your metabolism

A study reported on in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, found that green tea extract resulted in a significant increase in energy expenditure (a metabolism ‘boost’).

The researchers also concluded that that over a 24-hour period, green tea extract increases the metabolic rate by 4%. These effects are probably due to the high concentrations of catechin polyphenols found in green tea. These work to help intensify levels of fat oxidation and thermogenesis (the rate at which your body burns calories).

2) Green tea inhibits fat absorption and helps glucose regulation

Experts tell us that the catechins in green tea help to inhibit the movement of glucose into fat cells. Green tea may also act as al glucose regulator. It helps to slow the rise in blood sugar after a meal. This prevents high insulin spikes (lots of insulin promotes fat storage) and the subsequent fat storage.

3) Green tea may help reduce appetite

Scientists at the University of Chicago found that green tea caused rats to lose up to 21 percent of their body weight. Rats injected with a green tea extract lost their appetites and consumed up to 60 percent less food after seven days of daily injections. This may have something to do with the blood sugar regulating effects of green tea.

4) Green tea can help you save calories on your morning brew.

We are a nation hooked on our java. Be it the regular double-cream, double-sugar standard or that mocha, dappa, frappucinno, the calories we ingest just to get our morning caffeine is wreaking havoc on our waistlines.

If you want to save mega-calories in the morning but still get your caffeine fix, try substituting green tea for coffee. Or have a green tea in the afternoon instead of that 700 calorie mocha-chillate dream. You’ll definitely notice the difference in your waistline after a few weeks.

So there are 4 ways that green tea can help you with weight loss. But how much do you actually have to drink to get these amazing metabolism boosting effects?

Experts vary but the general consensus seems to be that 3 – 5 cups of green tea per day is optimal. Doing this can help you burn an extra 70 calories per day which amounts to 7 pounds per year. Pretty good for not exercising or cutting calories, right?

However, 3 – 5 cups can be a lot for some people, so you might also want to consider green tea extract, green tea pills or a green tea patch.

Disadvantages of Drinking Green Tea For Weight Loss:

#1) Green tea is not a magic bullet

While some people will tell you that green tea is the be-all-end-all for weight loss success, I think the keyword here is balance. You’re not going to eat 5000 calories a day, drink a cup of green tea and make it all go away – it just isn’t going to happen. A healthy diet and increased exercise will go a long way in helping you lose weight and keep it off.

#2) Be cautious of the caffeine if you have health problems

For some people that have heart troubles, high blood pressure or stimulant sensitivities, the caffeine in green tea may not be the best idea. If you’re worried about the caffeine from green tea, try taking green tea extract. Most green tea extract is made from decaffeinated green tea so you can still get the weight loss benefits without the caffeine.

If you think the caffeine may be a problem, make sure to consult your doctor before starting green tea for weight loss. Also make sure to consult your doctor before starting green tea if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Bottom Line: Green tea helps you with weight loss by boosting your metabolic rate, regulating your blood sugar, suppressing your appetite and giving you something else besides that high calorie, high sugar coffee beverage to drink in the morning. While it’s not the magic bullet, it can definitely give you a boost in weight loss and in your overall health!

Ever Wanted To Lose Baby Weight? Green Tea Works!

March 13, 2009 By: Mr. Healthy Category: Green Tea No Comments →

It seems lately that I have come across an abundance of information on the benefits of consuming green tea. Because of this, I have been inspired to compile some of the information - specifically regarding green tea for how to lose baby belly fat.

Green tea is just a small ingredient of the lose weight after a baby and contains a number of things that are reported to be very healthful for you. Among these are:

Tannins, phenols, polyphenols, and flavanoid compounds, the amino acid theanine, and catechins of which egg seems to be the most beneficial.

Some of the reported benefits you will see when researching green tea are:

• Protecting skin from ultraviolet radiation
• Protection against a number of different cancers
• Increased life span
• Protection of the brain
• Increased antioxidant levels
• Theanine has been reported to negate the jittery effect of caffeine, and heighten mental acuity and some have even said give a relaxed but aware state.
• Last but not least are increased fat metabolism

This increased fat metabolism is what is of most interest to people wanting to lose weight. It simply means the rate at which you burn calories and the body’s ability to burn fat. The studies seem to point to a connection between the caffeine in green tea and the epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) which causes a boost in noradrenaline. Noradrenaline helps your body boost your metabolism and suppress your appetite.

Some experts recommend that you take a standardized green tea supplement which contains 90mg of EGCG and 50mg caffeine. Of course you should always consult your physician before taking any supplement, especially one with caffeine.

Drinking green tea for weight loss can be a pleasurable experience. I have tasted some very good green teas and I have tasted some that taste like what I imagine blended grass would taste like. My favorites seem to be the mixture of green tea and lemongrass. The best tasting ones I have found have been in health food stores or online. Don’t give up on your first taste. Experiment around and try different flavors of green tea. You may find one or more that you just absolutely love. I generally microwave my green tea and drink it warm. I have brewed several bags at a time using boiling water and then place in the refrigerator for a nice cool beverage as well.

To lose baby belly fat, drinking green tea can also be an aid if it takes place of another habit such as coffee with sugar or cola. I know many people who start the day with a sugar filled caffeine cola or sweetened iced tea. This is how they get their morning caffeine. Why not substitute green tea for this and enjoy the feeling and health benefits, also treat it as the best way to weight loss? Replace that after lunch cup of coffee with a cup of green tea. You will be doing something healthy for your body and you won’t experience the “drop” that coffee can leave you with an hour or so later. Also enjoy a cup of green tea before your exercise routine, just be careful and do not consume it late in the afternoon.

A cup of green tea contains about half as much caffeine as a cup of coffee. If you are sensitive to caffeine – use caution or avoid all together.

I am a believer in a healthy lifestyle to achieve your desired weight. If you know me or read any of my articles you also know that I am a believer in supplements – Only as an aid to a healthy lifestyle. Not a magic solution. I see green tea as an effective tool in your weight loss arsenal.

Green tea seems like a wonderful addition to your daily life which may help you boost your metabolism, ward of sickness, and give you a gentle caffeine lift.

Burn More Fat By Using Green Tea

February 17, 2009 By: Mr. Healthy Category: Green Tea No Comments →

With the popularity of herbal products in the last decade or so, one of the most popular products has been green tea - but did you know you could use green tea for weight loss? There has been a lot of talk about reasons to use green tea to help improve your health, but a lesser-known fact is that is that green tea can help you burn calories, as well. Before you decide to stop your diet and quit exercising, you must realize that green tea is merely an aid for weight loss.brbrGreen tea is a weight loss aid, but it is merely meant to help you shed pounds. It is not going to do all the work for you. So how can green tea help you lose weight? It’s pretty simple, really: green tea contains caffeine. As a stimulant, caffeine naturally helps you burn extra calories. The thing is, most drinks that contain caffeine are full of calories of their own, too.brbrCoffee, soda, and energy drinks are never going to help you lose weight, because they’re filling your body up with fat and calories along with the caffeine content. Again, it’s important to remember that green tea is just a little boost, in the neighborhood of an extra 70 to 80 calories burned per day. That number is much less than the amount of calories in a single serving of soda or coffee.brbrOne thing that gives green tea weight loss an advantage is the compound called epigallocatechin gallate, commonly known as ECCG. The ECCG in green tea increases the effectiveness of the caffeine, leading to a greater amount of calories burned. Along with the fewer calories contained in a serving of green tea, this means the caffeine in green tea can help you lose weight where it would not if you got it from soda or coffee.brbrIt can’t be emphasized enough that green tea is just a small ally in the war against fat. If you were to lose 80 extra calories per day, that only adds up to about 8 pounds lost in a year, assuming you didn’t change your diet or get any extra exercise. If you want to shed pounds quickly, green tea can help, but it’s not the answer.brbrThe good news is drinking green tea does more than just help you lose weight. As an antioxidant, green tea provides a number of benefits to your cardiovascular health — this means green tea can help reduce the risk of heart problems. Green tea can also help improve your metabolism and control your cholesterol level, and some claim that it can help your mental focus, as well.brbrExchanging your daily coffee intake for green tea can be a great way to help lose weight and improve general health. You’re replacing all the calories and chemicals found in coffee with pure herbal tea. This change can help make you feel healthier in months, and you can experience the effects of green tea weight loss at the same time.brbra href=http://fat-lost.com/greentea.php target=’_blank’Lose up to 25 pounds in 25 days with Green Tea. Green Tea Health Benefits

Are other types of tea worse than green tea? Teas like black and oolong teas? Green tea has always been the most connected with health and use for health. Most likely, this is because it is in a natural state, at least more so than other teas. Today, natural things are considered healthier, so green tea is assumed to be better. According to research however, this is not the case. Black and oolong teas have health benefits nearly exactly the same as green tea have. Black tea does, though, have a higher caffeine content than green tea, which is a consideration.

Purportedly, there are also many green tea health benefits. Cancer prevention, relaxation, and lowered cholesterol are among these. This is probably because of its high levels polyphenols, EGCG, and other antioxidants. Green tea has been cultivated for around 5,000 years, developing in China and India. For a long time it was regarded very favorably with effects such as Improve Immune System Function , easing the effects of alcohol, working as a good stimulant, and many other things.

Can green tea help with weight loss? A relevant question. It increases one’s metabolism slightly, and this can help to burn calories faster. But realistically, the only way to burn fat is healthy food and exercise. Green tea can undoubtedly help the process of weight loss, but there is not magic bullet for obesity.

Tea is grown in around 30 countries, but is consumed globally. Some countries use much, others little, but the average quantity of tea used per person each year is .12 liters–a consumption level displaced only by water. Green tea unlike other teas, is not oxidized. This keeps many of the natural polyphenols that oxidized teas (like black and oolong teas) don’t keep. Green tea also contains high concentrations of EGCG, which is the strongest antioxidant currently known.

What’s better, bagged tea or loose tea? There are many varieties of tea, loose and bagged. There are also many different variations of flavors. There’s blueberry green tea, mandarin green tea, lemon green tea, and many many other types of bagged tea. Loose tea tends to be more high quality. Bagged tea is generally the dust and scraps left over from making quality tea. So is there a difference in the benefits? Not really. You will, of course, get much better taste from higher quality tea, but if you’re just aiming for health benefits, then bagged is probably better, becasue it is both more accessible and cheaper.

Healthy Lifestyle - Manage Your Stress

August 31, 2007 By: Mr. Healthy Category: Antioxidants, Green Tea No Comments →

Now many people work much better under stress assuming that the stressor is related to the work you are doing. So, for example:
If you have a deadline to meet for getting a piece of work done and that deadline is close, your stress levels will increase as you rush to complete the job. Usually your output will increase because you can make decisions quicker and are less prone to deliberating about what to do next. You just think it through and do it. We certainly tend to be more motivated when under this type of stress.

Now this is good assuming that it is in relatively short bursts. But if you try to sustain this high stress working then productivity will drop and your health may be affected. You will start making mistakes and then have to spend even more time correcting things which in turn puts pressure on future deadlines. The problem occurs when we have deadline after deadline and impossible targets to achieve.

So what to do? Well this will depend on your exact situation but pretty much without exception taking time out to plan what you have to do will help. You also have to accept that things can’t stay as they are. So either you have to find a way of getting things done quicker. Or you just have to come clean and admit that something is going to be late. If it is going to be late then best to say something now and react accordingly than to wait until it is late and then admit it to yourself.
